This survey is part of a research study to determine how different ways of communicating avalanche danger forecasts affects decision making.
In this survey you will be asked an assortment of questions about your risk taking tendencies, avalanche knowledge, and map reading skills in order to establish an understanding of you as a survey respondent. You will then be shown a series of avalanche danger forecasts and asked to make a decision whether or not you would enter an area where avalanches are possible.
This survey will take you between five and ten minutes. This survey will be brief, painless, and perhaps even enjoyable. This survey puts you in no danger from avalanches or anything else.
This survey may provide no direct benefit to you as a participant, but it may improve your ability to understand and interpret avalanche danger forecasts. Additionally, the information gained through this study will be used to inform future improvements to avalanche danger forecast communication methods.
